School District 8 Kootenay Lake offers a Late French Immersion Program for students in both Creston and Nelson! French Immersion is a vibrant program of choice, and we are beginning our information and registration process for the 2021-22 year. Our district program is delivered at the following schools: Canyon-Lister Elementary in Creston, and Trafalgar Middle School and LV Rogers Secondary School in Nelson. Creston French Immersion 2021/2022
Virtual Information Family Night Creston: Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 6:30 - 7:30 pm MST
All students who have completed Grade 4 and are residents in Kootenay Lake School District 8 are eligible. The program is located at Canyon-Lister Elementary school for Grades 5–7 as a multi-age language program for the 2021-22 year. The current class size configuration is up to 27 students.
Nelson Late French Immersion 2021/2022
Virtual Information Family Night Nelson: Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 6:30 - 7:30 pm PST
All students who have successfully completed Grade 5 and are residents in Kootenay Lake School District 8 are eligible. The program is located at Trafalgar Middle School for Grades 6–9, and continues for Grades 10-12 at LV Rogers Secondary School beginning in 2021-22.
Each year, up to 60 students are accepted into the Grade 6 Late French Immersion Program, with a lottery draw held if necessary.
