We're now entering the winter holiday season associated with kindness and generosity. Our well-being in the colder months depends more than usual on community connections, shared resources and looking out for family and neighbours in snowy weather.

Kindness, cooperation and celebration are everywhere across school communities this past month. L.V.R. Leadership students have fundraised for local foodbanks and Salmo Secondary students have taken on the role of leaders, touring their families around classrooms and shared spaces to celebrate learning and student achievements.

At Blewett Elementary, students gathered to learn about Indigenous storytelling and to improve their literacy. Students at Canyon-Lister Elementary assembled to honour Remembrance Day and Indigenous Veterans Day and to reflect on the sacrifices people have made.

And, across SD8 schools, educators and students have planned, practiced, and prepared for their upcoming winter concerts to share with families. This is a fun and entertaining time across our schools.

Please enjoy this December report, and I wish you a wonderful, warm, and celebratory season of shared kindness and joy.

Warmly,

Trish
