Operations and Transportation - Much More than the Bear Minimum!

Bus driver Ron Planiden and his student passengers had an interesting afternoon in mid-September.

Ron was nearing the end of his bus run in Crawford Bay with three student passengers still on the bus awaiting the last few stops when he spotted five bears along the highway.

Concerned for student safety in bear season, Ron decided the only safe thing to do was to park the bus in a pullout along the road, take out the keys, and for all three remaining students and Ron to walk up the driveway to the student's house and make sure she got home safely, then for the remaining two students to return with Ron to the bus so he could complete the run and everyone to get home safe and sound.

So that is exactly what he did, and the bears continued their bear activities in preparation for hibernation.

Thanks Ron for going out of your way to get Crawford Bay students home safely!
