First elected in 2005, Bill is in the beginning stages of his third term as one of Nelson’s representatives on the Board of Education, School District No. 8.  Bill, his wife Lecia and family arrived in Nelson in 1977 when Bill came to the then, School District No. 7 Nelson as the Superintendent of Schools, a position he held until his retirement in 1994.

His background in the public education system covers the spectrum of teacher, vice-principal, principal and superintendent.  In the community, Bill has served on the Nelson Police Board, the Hospital Foundation, and is still a member on the Community Futures Board. As long time Nelson residents, Bill and Lecia are very committed to the community in general and have very strong ties to its educational component. Lecia was a teacher in the district, their daughter teaches at Rosemont School, their children are all graduates of L.V.
