Susan was born in Victoria BC, raised on Salt Spring Island, and since 1996 has lived in Salmo with her husband and two daughters. In Salmo, her daughters participated in the excellent programs at the Salmo Childcare Centre, attended the local Elementary and Secondary schools and continued on to post-secondary studies offered in the West Kootenays and beyond.
Susan has had several careers in the private, public and non-profit sectors, working locally, provincially and internationally. She holds a Masters of Education from Simon Fraser University and has participated and sat in leadership positions on numerous boards at local, regional and provincial levels relevant to her professional roles and volunteer commitments.
She comes to the role of Board of Education Trustee with a committment to applying her skills and knowledge of fiduciary and governance responsibility, paired with sound community engagement processes, in support of strengthening our public education system in School District 8.
Susan firmly believes that a sound, robust and evolving public education system is critical - and perhaps the most critical thing - for the health and well-being of our children, our communities, our educators and our future.
