The following school principal and vice-principal transfers and appointments for the 2023-2024 school year will come into effect on August 1, 2023:  

Principal Transfers

Principal Dawn Snell will transfer from Salmo Elementary to South Nelson Elementary.

This year marks the hundredth anniversary since the building was first opened and students filed into classrooms to learn to read, write, and do arithmetic at their wooden desks.

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 748 have completed mediation with parties proceeding to ratification in the coming weeks.

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) (SD8) is actively engaged in bargaining with CUPE Local 748 to negotiate a renewed collective agreement under the Province’s Shared Recovery Mandate.

The union advised SD8 that CUPE members will take a strike vote. A strike vote is not a strike notice. This does not mean that CUPE staff will be going on strike.
