For the second consecutive year, Nelson area elementary schools in School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) have received a generous donation toward food for students and families thanks to fundraising efforts by the Nelson Professional Firefighters Association Local 1343 and community generosity.

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) announced today that Principal Misty Terpstra will transfer from Nelson Wildflower School to Salmo Elementary School to serve as the new school principal.

Principal Terpstra will assume the school leadership role from Principal Dawn Snell whose move to South Nelson Elementary school was announced in May.

Principal Transfers

Principal Dawn Snell will transfer from Salmo Elementary to South Nelson Elementary.

Above the front entrance to Hume Elementary School the year “1923” is emblazoned in concrete along with the school’s name. This year marks the hundredth anniversary since the building was first opened and students filed into classrooms to learn to read, write, and do arithmetic at their wooden desks.
