Hat tricks aren’t just for hockey. Nelson firefighters have teamed up to make a third, consecutive annual donation to School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) (SD8) to support school food programs.

More students crossed a high school stage last spring to receive a Dogwood Diploma than ever before in School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake).

The Kootenay River Secondary School kitchen got a makeover this year! The kitchen renovation, completed in January 2025, includes all new cabinetry and countertops, a prep island, new plumbing fixtures and a sanitizing dishwasher, as well as a new fume hood and updates to the serving area.

A Nutritious, Delicious Start to the Day

Salmo Elementary School students enjoyed a delicious hot breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs and fruit on November 20. Staff from the SD8 board office (SBO) in Nelson were on site early to prepare food, serve students and clean up after the meal.
