The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women marks the day (December 6, 1989) that 14 young women at Polytechnique Montréal were murdered. It is about remembering those who have experienced gender-based violence and those who we have lost to it. It is also a time to take action.
May 5th marks the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit Peoples. It is also known as Red Dress Day. It is a day to build awareness for, promoting education about, and honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit Peoples. Wear Red on this day.
Every year, on April 28, workers, families, employers, and others come together at events held around the province to remember those who have lost their lives on the job, and to renew our commitment to creating safer workplaces.
