Climate Action & Sustainability in K-12
SD8 is committed to helping students and staff understand climate change and take meaningful action. Our work supports hands-on learning, builds awareness, and encourages everyone across schools and worksites to make sustainable choices.
On this page you'll find links to resources to help educators, students and all staff learn and act to respond to and address climate change and support a sustainable school district.
Working Together
SD8 aligns its efforts with provincial climate strategies through the Ministry of Education and Child Care and the Climate Action Secretariat, ensuring schools have the tools and support needed to prepare for a changing climate.
Guided by Policy 173
Policy 173: Climate Action and Sustainability shapes our direction. In spring 2025, we released our first Climate Action & Sustainability Annual Report, sharing highlights from the 2024/25 school year and setting priorities through to 2030.
