Bargaining Continues Between SD8 and CUPE 748

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) (SD8) is actively engaged in bargaining with CUPE Local 748 to negotiate a renewed collective agreement under the Province’s Shared Recovery Mandate.

The union advised SD8 that CUPE members will take a strike vote. A strike vote is not a strike notice. This does not mean that CUPE staff will be going on strike.

Radon Testing Pilot Project in SD8

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) is collaborating with Interior Health to test for radon in in district buildings including schools, as part of a province-wide pilot project initiated by Interior Health.

SD8 Launches Strategic Plan Public Engagement

Public invited to submit ideas through February

SD8 is renewing its strategic plan and wants the public to share their ideas.

The plan will set the mission, vision, goals and priorities for the Board of Education and staff for the next five years from 2024 through 2029. The Board of Education invites anyone with an interest in education to share ideas, vote for ideas they like, ask questions, comment or complete a survey on their new engagement site, engage.sd8.bc.ca.
